A while back, I happened upon an amazon gift card and did what I usually do with those : Pick up useless shit for my PC that might help my shows.
I happened upon MuteSync
And it was like 40 bucks... so fuck it.... I bought it.
Got it home in a day or so, and hooked it up. And was VERY disappointed. It only worked in stuff like Teams/Zoom/etc.
So I unplugged it and tossed it in a box next to my desk. One more useless piece of hardware.
A few days ago I went looking for a replacement. What I want is a "cough button" for my shows. Instead of searching for my mic on the desktop and muting/unmuting, I just want a simple button. 90% of the time I am doing SH Shows, I also stream to Twitch, MixCloud, and now Blast. And I always forget to mute my mic when I am playing music. So if you are listening on one of those services, you get to hear me talk to my dog or my wife.
Well the newer version of this came up : MuteMe
I almost went past it. It was the same thing basically, but a bigger button. But just for giggles, I went and downloaded the software.
It NOW does exactly what I want. Instead of relying on Teams/Zoom/etc., it has the ability to mute/unmute the device itself.
So I dug the thing out of my box of useless shit and hooked it up here at the house. Now I have a button to do what I wanted in the first place, and It has a visual indicator that I can configure. So when I am muted, the whole thing turns RED... and when the mic is live, it turns green.
I cant wait to use this tomorrow during Group Therapy.... and yes... I am so easily amused.
